What's the big deal!!!!!!!!

Ok..so first of all i know there will be some people that completely disagree with me...but since it is my blog i can say whatever i want! heheheh!

Well, I just want to know what is the big deal about Sex and The City!!!!!
Ok..so i am not trying to be legalist or holy rollie...but honestly i think Sex and the City is a horrible representation of what a respectable woman is.
and i have to admit...when the movie came out, a group of friends went to see it and i was invited...however i was unable to get a ticket because it was sold out.  I really didnt care because i was never a fan and didn't even know the characters names except for Carrie.

I am the first person who totally loves fashion...so much that, that is what i am majoring in. So its not that i dont like the "feel" of the show or their incredible Jimmy Choo's or the fact that 4 beautiful women are living the high life in NYC . I LOVE THAT!!!
However I think it is sad that the world especially young women are so drawn and enamored with the idea that it is okay to have multiple( and i mean MULTIPLE) partners to sleep around with and give other men what should only be give to a husband. Then sit at a cafe and talk about their experience's and compare last nights partner to the partner the night before. Not too say anything about the SUPER explicit sexual scene in which not much is left to the imagination.

Now I know that virtually everything we see on TV has some sort of sexual innuendo, and sometimes its unavoidable when you see a movie or surf on TV...but it is quite another to follow a story line of season after season knowing what you are watching and what it represents.

Again..i dont mean to hurt any Sex In The City fans...but this is just something i had to get off my chest!
I would love to hear your thoughts..no matter what they are!
xoxo..olivia

I so agree I don't know what the big deal is either and to me, I wouldn't pay $9.50 to see it, the show is off move on. All we need is Grey's Anatomy.

Well since I LOVE Sex and the City this obviously applies to me. ;)
First let me start by saying something in response to your friends comment. No offense I am just speaking honestly.
How can you say that as a "Christian" and a "pastors daughter" you prefer Greys Anatomy over Sex and the City..?? I dont understand? Its literally all the same thing... Greys Anatomy includes sex/multiple partners & discussing sex just as Sex and The City does...

I grew in a Chrisitan home specifically a "baptist" one. I went to church every Wednesday and Sunday, I sang in choir and participated in everything that was involved with the church. I was raised in a very strict home.. AS i have grown older I have slowly distanced myself from church and the "religious" ways that I was used to. I have learned alot and realized that alot of things in this world are completly different then what i was raised to believe. I believe in God and I believe in alot of the principals that I was taught during those years but I have a different perspective on living a "christian" life. I think many people get confused..
This show is not promoting anything that is bad or hurtful against human beings. It is showing a "reality" in alot of ways this is life. Some women lead trashy lives and have 5-6 boyfriends and do who knows what and there are women that dont... I think we need to look at things realistically.. There are pastors leading double lives.. Cheating on wives and have affairs.. There are " christian" men doing the same. There are pastors who are involved in child pornography cases. Seriously, Sex and The City is nothing compared to the horrible things that are happening in this world. Women discuss sex, emotions, people lie, have sex, get married, get divorced etc.. This is the normal cycle of life...
I think this is more an issue of personal preference...but as usual people want to mix that into religion...
Im going to get even more honest..just because i think that is what this world needs...
I can relate to the show, I love fashion, i have had my heart broken, been betrayed, had sex prior to marriage, have gotten drunk, went to parties, went to clubs, i fight with my boyfriend, fight with friends, cheated on someone and been cheated on, i like sexy clothes, i love conservative clothes as well, i talk about "sexually" related things with friends, I love sex and the city, i like Greys anatomy and many many other shows.
Does this make me a bad person.. nope it makes me human.. We are not perfect and will never be perfect... Life, Love and Gods love i dont feel has anything to do with this.. and this is why I have become soo seperated from the whole "church" experience. WE need to worry about being good human beings, caring and having compassion for one another, loving our families enough to not leave them or hurt them, loving this planet we live on, stopping violence and abuse. Sex, sexual orientation and many things that are discussed in this movie are a matter of personal choice..All the women in this movie are successful and promote working hard and succeding and being independent why not look at that... this is a show and a movie.
Oli specifically responding to what you said about young women being drawn to to this show and the idea of having multiple partners.. Young women should first of all not being watching this movie there are things for every age group and this is def, not something a young women should be watching.. just like a young boy should not be watching a movie with violence and killing. AS an adult you are able to see how things are and understand that this is something fictional but carrying alot of undertones of what women are like.

I love you and this is nothing against you because i know that you have a huge heart and are REAL. You dont just pretend you actually follow what you preach and many people dont. There is no problem with that.. I respect it and i love you for everything that you are.. you know me and know that aside from all the of "personal" things that i listed above I am not a bad person. I dont have 5 boyfriends or have sex left and right with random people. I am a normal girl.. I love god and i know that i am here because of him and he has been with me through my entire 24 years of existence. but i just dont go about it the same way many people do..
Sex and the city is ok by me, and your friend Terry that loves Greys Anatomy.. there is nothing wrong with that. I like Greys but its a case of what i was saying.. people preach something and then dont stick behind it.. how can you like greys and say all we need is greys but then agree with everything you said in your post about sex and the city?????

I love you doll!!

Olivia, I miss seeing ya gal! On SATC, It's the same old song to a new tune. The writers taking the windsome story of "Scarlet", add in a couple of friends, and a sprinkle of today's society to whip up a blockbuster. We've seen it before and we're yet to see it some more until JC returns. It's sad that we're all not more aware of all the "sex" we're ingesting from tv and movies.
Love your blogs babe! :)
