Lately you have noticedthat the world is on a
mission to go "GREEN"
It seems that the term "organic" is used so lightly and some may say its just a trend or the popular thing to do now....but is it really just a trend or are there real health issues involved in all of this?? Lets find out:
100% Organic- means that every ingredient in the product was raised and harvested in an organic environment as approved and certified by the USDA.
Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones during their lives. Organic food is produced without using harmful, conventional pesticides; fertilizers containing synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge; bioengineering; or ionizing radiation. Before a product can be labeled organic, a Government-approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to ensure that the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards.
I know that some people are very spectical about this issue, but as i have been researching i have come to find out that this "organic"way of life has amazing health benefits!
Here are some:
Organic farming is friendlier to the environment; therefore on organic farms you are likely to find a greater diversity of plants (not including the organic food itself) and animals.
* Organic processed food contains no hydrogenated fat, whereas non-organic processed food does. Hydrogenated fat has been linked to heart disease – so choosing organic options can help to protect your heart.
* If you are concerned about how animals are treated, then choosing organic food is a good idea. Organic farming ensures that animals are fed a natural diet and kept in free-range conditions.
* Genetically modified (GM) crops are not allowed under organic standards.
* There are lower levels of pesticide residues in organic food, as only a small number of chemicals are allowed in organic food production.
As I researched I also ran across some testimonials of people that were diagnosed with different disease's, from cancer to autism in children to high blood pressure and there Doctor suggested changing their diets to an 100% organic diet. Over time these people noticed a huge difference in their health and some were even cured. Now, i am not saying that organic food is the worlds cure for disease's but i am saying that many times a small change can go a long way.
Do your own research and decided...whether its organic or not, living health is not an option.

And when we DO make a run for some fresh, organic veggies, b sure to leave w/ them in a Publix "green" tote!! : )
Oli,
Yay! I love reading your post! ;) Well.. where I live there are many many organic farms. Being "green" is a very big deal in this area as I am sure it is in many. I agree with you that "organic" food does carry benefits over food that has been treated with different chemicals. I always think that back in earlier times there didn't seem to be all of the deadly diseases that there are now..( Of course there still were some but not as many and not as deadly) I also think of people from our native countries, like Cuba and the Dominican REpublic many of the people that live in those places dont have all of the illnesses and diseases that many people have here.I also agree with you that eating organic isnt the cure for everything but it does help and maybe each individual person will notice a change. THere is a great book about organic foods and easy ways to start living green. I dont have the authors name with me but I will go home and get that and paste it here in case anyone is interested. Another awesome thing to do is visit local farmers market, we have many many here i am not sure if there are many in fort lauderdale but I am sure there are some in south miami. Many have local organic grown fruits and veggies and are much cheaper then the grocery store. Thanks for always posting awesome post with positive messages behind them. I love you bunches!!!
